Lenten discipline, oboe and organ, "like a child at home"

  1. I've decided that for Lent, I'm going to give up alcohol and cigarettes. And since I don't smoke or drink, I've also decided that I'm going to be more faithful with my Bible study and with my blogging and email. I've been shutting myself off from the world the past few weeks, and it's time to come off the ash heap and prepare for Easter.

  2. The choir sang two songs for the Ash Wednesday service tonight. Both of them were versions of the 23rd Psalm, and both of them were accompanied by keyboard and oboe. The organ and the oboe were really beautiful together.

  3. The last part of the second song had the words, "Oh, may thy house be my abode and all my work be praise; There would I find a settled rest, while others come and go; No more a stranger nor a guest, but like a child at home." I really love that version of Psalm 23. I'm looking forward to the day when I will be like a child at home with my Lord and Savior.
