The trio, ink, alone time

  1. The girls and I went into town to sing their trio for our choir director. He was very impressed with their harmonies, and very encouraging for all of us.

  2. I found the printer ink I needed.

  3. The creek was full, and the weather sunny, so I let the girls go swimming this evening. That gave me a chance to just relax and watch a movie.

Organ music, flowers

  1. "Alleluia! Jesus is Risen" by Keith Kolander on the organ

  2. Flowers at church in memory of my dad, with lots of red carnations

  3. Flowers all over the house as I made flower arrangements in every vase and picture I could find, and even one of my candy dishes

Honor Friend, Ben Hur, scrapbook about my dad

  1. My middlest daughter passed her Bible verse test for her "Friends Club" with flying colors. That means that she will earn Honor Friend this summer and receive her silver medal, too. Patti was impressed, also, with her journal---the maturity of her answers and the neatness.

  2. Ben Hur

  3. I've finished most of the scrapbook I'm making about my dad. I still have one page I need to write about the rubber chicken and the buffalo skull, and I need to add some titles to some other pages, but then I'll be finished. I think it's been good therapy for me, but this is still turning out to be a very difficult time of year.

Lunch out, beautiful spring trees and bushes, Belmont's great basketball team

  1. My husband and I took our middlest child out for lunch today. We usually do that when one of them finishes a grade or passes a big test. We are several lunches behind for her, so it was nice to have a chance to spend some time with her and leave the sisters here to take care of themselves.

  2. It was a beautiful spring day today, even though they had predicted colder temperatures. All the pear trees and the forsythia around the area look so beautiful.

  3. Belmont didn't win yesterday, but they did play very well.

Basketball symmetry, finding the receipts so that I can stop procrastinating, big income tax refund

  1. Belmont plays Duke today --- one of my favorite teams against my least favorite. It's nice to know the God made the world with such symmetry.

  2. I finished the taxes. I had been procrastinating getting all my receipts together, but once I found them, actually filling in the forms wasn't so difficult.

  3. Because of our income bracket, and three children, we are getting back a very nice tax refund.

  1. An afternoon free to watch The Ten Commandments, one of my many holy week traditions.

  2. Meat loaf and hash brown casserole for Sunday dinner.

  3. The girls cooked pasta for us for supper so I could finish up grading tests. I'm so happy to have such self-reliant, helpful, and generous children.

LOST, scrapbook, rain

  1. We finished watching Season 3 of LOST on DVD, and I'm happy that my favorite guys are all still alive. Hugo is my hero!

Jonquils, forsythia buds, spring music

  1. I drove by fields and fields of jonquils today on the way to and from work. Breath-taking!

  2. As I was walking into work about 11:00, I noticed that the forsythia bushes were starting to bud. By the time I left campus at about 4:00 (test days are longer days), the buds were already showing yellow. I think if I had stayed to watch, I could have seen the buds actually opening up.

  3. The mood on campus was different today. People were outside, and you could hear singing everywhere. It finally felt like spring was really here, and the mood was really contagious.

Snow, catch-up grading, Hitchcock

  1. Snow on the ground when we woke up this morning that was almost completely melted by the time the sun went down.

  2. I finished grading at least two months worth of math tests for my two younger daughters. Since I'm not required to file their grades every quarter (like I am for my high-schooler), I sometimes get behind. It feels good to be caught up again.

  3. Watching Hitchcock movies with my husband and middlest daughter (the other two aren't so excited about old black and white movies)

Friday, March 07, 2008

LOST, clients, pirate questions for the test

  1. Finally getting to watch Season 3 of "LOST"

  2. A really lovely phone call from a client

  3. I finished writing the test for the Belmont students, and I even managed to include a few pirate questions

  1. Finding the printer ink I needed at the store today (the kind I need seems to be sold out quite often)

  2. Nice weather for driving to Belmont today

  3. Some time in the evening to work on the scrapbook I'm making about my dad

French pens, French husbands, and walking downhill

  1. My new French phrase of the day: "C'est mon stylo." (same-o steel-o) Translation: "It's my pen." I like the way it sounds in French, and it reminds me of a game I used to play with my dad when I was a baby. (He played it with his granddaughters, too.)

  2. I had a French song in my head all day today --- "Il est bel et bon." (Eel-ay bell-ay bow.) Translation: "He is beautiful (handsome) and good." It makes me smile, but I wish I knew more of the song.

  3. I walked downhill both ways from my car and back to my car in the parking garage today.

Monday, March 03, 2008

  2. I was able to understand the French in the songs "Louez le Seigneur," "Il est Bel et Bon," and "Ah! Si Mon Moine Voulait Danser!"

  3. I was able to understand the Latin and German, too, in the songs "Ascendit Deus" and "Wie der Hirsch Schreit."

Empty boxes and scrapbooks

  1. My youngest and I are making great progress in getting some boxes unpacked upstairs. I know we've been in this house for almost two years, but I still have a tremendous sense of accomplishment when we can clear yet another box.

  2. My husband and I unpacked the last box from our bedroom. We have so much space now, and it's so wonderful.

  3. Time to work on my scrapbook.
