Positive feedback, healing up, carbonara

  1. I had several more positive comments from students through email today. It was really nice to hear. Thursday was the first class with formulas, and so far it seems that no one is freaking out, so that's really good.

  2. My finger and my ankle are feeling better today.

  3. The kids made an awesome batch of spaghetti carbonara while I was at the doctor today. I ate three helpings when I got home.

Good classes, cleaner room, companionship

  1. I thought that teaching today at Belmont went really well, and I also had several positive comments from students, so they thought so, too. And this was in spite of the fact that I had to run to get to class on time, again. They are redoing the roads, and parking has been terrible. Tuesday I'm leaving earlier, I promise.

  2. My oldest cleaned her room this morning. She was tired of being distracted by her sisters while working in the dining room. So she didn't get much school done while I was away, but her room is much less cluttered and generally cleaner. She must have worked really hard.

  3. My oldest came with me to the grocery store today. It was nice to have the company, even though I know she still had school to do.

Pipe organ, knitting, sweatshirt

  1. I visited a new church today, and the worship was incredible. They have a simply amazing pipe organ, at a church in the middle of nowhere outside of Murfreesboro. Who would have guessed? Mom and I enjoyed the service, and I think I'll go back there next week for communion.

  2. I love watching my girls knit. My mom taught the blond girls some new techniques this evening.

  3. A University of Nebraska sweatshirt that smells like Daddy.

Still alive, mac & cheese, still alive

  1. My baby is having a much better week in school this week. I haven't wanted to kill her even once.

  2. I had my first day at my new job, and when I came home, my two youngest volunteered to make supper (mac & cheese with leftover rice and chicken for Grandma).

  3. I survived my first day teaching at Belmont!

Spots, mom's progress, 330

  1. Our favorite baby deer came right into our front yard. He is growing so fast---his spots are almost gone.

  2. My mom is making great progress on her scrapbooks. I like to see them when they are done, but it also makes me happy to see her happy with her accomplishments.

  3. Though I don't have all the information I need, I did learn that I'll have 30 people in each of the sections I'm teaching. There are 11 sections altogether, so there will be 330 people taking statistics for nonscience majors. Amazing.

Cleanliness, scrapbooks, teaching materials

  1. My mom came for a visit today, and the house was pretty much clean enough that I didn't have to fuss over the state of my house.

  2. Mama came to work on scrapbooks, so I'll have another week of getting in some work on my scrapbook, too.

  3. I'm feeling good about the state of school for the girls and the state of my materials for teaching at Belmont on Thursday.

Roberto Benigni, Paradise, rain

  1. We watched Roberto Benigni's movie La Vita รจ Bella (Life is Beautiful). We had been watching a lot of movies about WWII, and it was hard to believe that a movie about life in the concentration camps could be funny, but it really was a beautiful movie.

  2. I finished reading Dante's Paradise. I know that the Inferno is more famous, but I really enjoyed Paradise more.

  3. We had some rain tonight, and maybe we'll have a bit more later this week.

Mommies and babies, picnic, t-shirts

  1. The mommy and baby deer were up close to the house today where I could get a good look.

  2. We went to the picnic for "home educators" in Murfreesboro. We didn't meet a lot of people, but we got a lot of information, and I think the family got plenty to eat.

  3. My oldest and I got free matching t-shirts, and we love matching t-shirts.

First Friday of school, grading calculator, Friends Club

  1. Everyone is doing great this week and making good grades.

  2. I wrote a really great Excel macro earlier for scheduling, and today I wrote one for recording and calculating grades. Very exciting. Now I just have to do some grading so I have something to record in the program.

  3. My "Friends Club" girls started a new lesson today. It was nice to have both younger girls involved.

GO Girls, grilling, pictures from my sister

  1. We had a great first "Girls Only Club" meeting today. The lesson was on time management, and it was very encouraging.

  2. My husband grilled out for us today, so I didn't have to cook. Hooray!

  3. My sister sent some great pictures of the girls. They are going to look great in our scrapbooks.

Clean kitchen, Rrrrrrrrrrrrrrr, signing in Latin

  1. Twice today I wanted to strangle my youngest child, but she survived. As punishment for her wanton disobedience, she's sweeping in the kitchen and washing dishes.

  2. Spanish was fun today. I've been practicing rolling my R's, and it makes us all giggle.

  3. Latin was fun today, too. We were doing sign language along with the Latin, and having a ball.

New school year, no fussing, monkey

  1. We all got up and started school today with very little trouble. I enjoy being on a schedule, so as much as I enjoyed vacation, there is some relief in being back in the regular swing of things.

  2. Everyone did their assignments today without fussing.

  3. I received another surprise gift in the mail today --- a stuffed monkey from a former client of mine. It's so nice to be rewarded like that.

Sleep, ready for school, consulting

  1. After being awake until 2:00 this morning, we all slept in and didn't make it to church. It was a nice relief to not have that pressure, except that it felt like Saturday all day today.

  2. Schedules are complete for school tomorrow, and the books are out and ready to go.

  3. My consulting business is picking up again now that summer is over.

Scrapbook party, cheesecake, safely home

  1. My baby and I had a really lovely time at a scrapbook party at a neighbor's house. We both got a lot of pages completed in our scrapbooks this week, and being at Rita's house was a wonderful way to complete our last week of vacation.

  2. My baby and I successfully completed a very large cheesecake for my middlest daughter's birthday.

  3. The older two girls arrived home safely from Indianapolis. The choir didn't place in the top ten, but they seemed to have had a fairly good time, with nothing stolen and very little lost along the way.

Tea pot, weather, hummingbirds

  1. I got a surprise package from FedEx today. The card says it's a thank you gift, but the card wasn't signed. It's a really lovely tea pot, white to match my dishes. I just don't know who sent it.

  2. Cooler weather today, though it's still over 90 degrees today.

  3. The hummingbirds are very active today. Maybe they are enjoying the cooler weather also.

  1. New CD in the mail (a gift from my brother): What Light Is All About by the group Alathea. The first song is called "Indian Creek", named for the same creek in upper East Tennessee where my parents used to take us crickin' when we were kids.

  2. New photos in the mail so I can work on scrapbooks again.

  3. Watching D.B. Woodside on television. I love his voice and his coolness.
